After
Breakfast - Cycling Trail at KALTOTA- DUVILIELLA Guests can be driven to
Kalthota (through Balangoda), where the trail starts. The trail through
thick vegetation and along the narrow path, is more fascinating
accompanied by the sounds of water rushing down below. |
|
| |
There is a
unique phenomenon-taking place at "Kooragala" of an unexplained Beam of
light coming through darkness from a deep ravine in the rock. The
"Buddhist Sthupa" which is on this rock has been built in the 01st
century B.C. and the view of southern part of the Island which you get
from there is really picturesque. |
|
| |
The route
which leads to the "Duviliella", meaning the fall that makes dust
(Duvili), is also as interesting as the fall itself. At the end of this
trail is one of the most interesting waterfalls in the island - the
Majestic, breathtaking and awesome "Duvili Ella"-. This waterfall is
also called the Walawe Ganga Fall (east). This waterfall is like none
other we see in the island, where the surrounding area is a level rocky
ground with a large pit about 80ft deep, into which, the river plunges
with a thunderous roar forming the waterfall and a large deep pool at
the base. The falling of water creates a cloud of spray, resembling a
cloud of dust (hence the name Duvili Ell - Duvili, for dust in Sinhala
and Ella for Fall) The level ground above the fall is ideal for the
guests to have a river bath and picnic lunch. |
